What can I expect in therapy?
Treatment is initiated through two 50-minute preliminary assessment appointments, where information concerning current stressors, psychological history and presenting symptoms is gathered to formulate a starting point for treatment. If necessary, I may ask for prior therapist or physician information (with your permission). Both therapist and client work together in defining specific therapeutic goals. Psychotherapy can be short-term (6-10 sessions) or longer, depending on the presenting problem. Psychotherapy is focused on changing self-defeating thinking and behavior patterns while enhancing your personal strengths. During therapy, you will be provided the necessary guidance, education and support to achieve successful treatment.
